Guadalupe Alvarez / Founder
Guadalupe Alvarez is the founder and creative talent behind Penzi. Born and raised in San Miguel de Allende, Guadalupe studied Communications at La Universidad del Nuevo Mundo in Mexico City.
She strongly believes in showcasing the beauty of this magical town in the heart of Mexico by using the talents and experience obtained from her extensive background in event and product production, making her one of Mexico’s most innovative event producers.
Before her career in wedding planning and event design, Guadalupe ran and owned her own houseware company, producing goods for clients in the United States and Europe.
Through this experience, she gained a significant understanding and love of designing environments in a way that is appealing to all nationalities. She later co-founded, designed, and produced Mary Jane Bags, unique and fun oilcloth bags for the home.
Through her extensive travels with her two sons, Guadalupe was inspired in Kenya, Africa more than ten years ago by the Swahili word “Penzi,” which means “love and desire.” She has studied event planning extensively under some of the industry’s best, including celebrity event planner Preston Bailey. Named one of the 100 best planners in the world (2021 and 2022) by DWP Insider based in Dubai, she knows that this is only possible because she has a team of dedicated professionals that take care of all her clients.
Her passion and vision for creating unique and extraordinary experiences for her clients shine through in her distinct style and design. Her taste and vision are what make Penzi unique, and she continues to remain one of the top wedding planners in San Miguel de Allende and the world.

Mee-Ngan Cardenas / Senior Event Planner
Mee-Ngan first joined the Penzi Team during the early stages of the company’s founding. Since then she’s come a long way studying with the best in the field including celebrity wedding planners David Tutera. As a mom, innovator, educator and senior planner at Penzi, she’s watched the company become a leading name in the world of wedding and event design and production.
Her persistent desire to help Penzi remain an innovative event producer is evident in her passion, dedication and consistent training. Mee-Ngan has become one of the leading members of the Penzi Team, lending her extensive knowledge of event production and design to the company and using her experience to mentor junior planners along the way.
José María Fuentes / Event Planner
José María studied Hotel Management at Les Roches in Spain. He is a people person and loves communication. José brings to Penzi the experience of service and attention to clients, ensuring every event is executed with excellence.
Patricio “Pato” Fuentes / Wedding Planner
Patricio studied Gastronomy at the Hoffman Institute in Barcelona. He has worked in the kitchens of renowned restaurants, including Restaurant Hoffman Barcelona (One Michelin Star), Joel Robuchon Monaco, Capu Bianco Corsica, and Boat House Sydney.
Angeles Vanegas / Wedding Planner
Angie is Guadalupe’s personal assistant. Her dedication is incredible; she notes everything that the couple wants for their wedding and ensures the director receives all the necessary support.
Flor de Maria López / Wedding Planner
Flor studied Tourism Management and Development at the Technological University of San Miguel de Allende. Her primary interest is to perform with determination and excellence.
Flor is passionate about the details that make each event unique, accompanying the bride throughout the process, and seeing the success of the event in her clients’ and guests’ expressions. Being empathetic and understanding her clients’ needs to ensure they enjoy their day to the fullest is very important to her.
Estrella Galicia / Wedding Planner
Originally from San Miguel de Allende, Estrella feels a great passion for her work, especially in a place where weddings become magical. The most important thing for her is that each event tells the couple’s story and is unique and full of joy. Learning something new every day makes her work exciting.
Valeria Vélez / Wedding Planner
Valeria studied Tourism and Gastronomy and always knew she wanted to be part of a wedding planning team. Penzi and San Miguel de Allende are the perfect places for her to work. Seeing clients happy and enjoying the best day of their lives motivates her to improve her work every day.

Karina, from San Miguel de Allende, studied Gastronomy and has always had a fascination for weddings. After graduating, she knew she wanted to work in the wedding sector. Mireya, from San Miguel de Allende, studied Tourist Management and Development. She is Patricio Fuentes’s personal assistant. For Mireya, being part of the Penzi team was a great opportunity to learn from the ground up. Mariana studied Tourism in San Miguel de Allende. She loves showcasing her town and its services. Always ready to help with a big smile, she has been part of the Penzi team since 2015.
Karla Morin / Wedding Planner
Karla, a native of San Miguel de Allende, studied Tourism in her hometown. She started working as a waiter and bartender at a young age and loves service. During her internship at Hotel Marriott Ocean and Golf in Costa Rica, she began working at events, where her love for weddings started. Being part of the Penzi team is a privilege; she loves their high standards, quality, and passion.
